£20m put aside for solar power

The solar industry has welcomed the Government’s decision to put aside £20 million to fund further research into the technology.
Part of the department of trade and industry's Major Photovoltaic Demonstration Project, the money will be invested in projects that demonstrate how solar energy helps to cut carbon emissions.
Commenting on the announcement, Eoin Lees, chief executive of the Energy Saving Trust, the managing operators of the scheme said, "This represents a massive boost for solar power and will help kick-start the industry in the UK."
David Green, chief executive of the Business Council for Sustainable energy UK, the Mr Lees' comments. He told H&V news: "Today's announcement will help set the UK on a path for a brighter sustainable future - generating new investment and jobs.
