| Clear Skies renewable energy grants issued. |

The first round of funding for the Clear Skies renewable energy programme has been announced this week, with 22 successful applicants from around the UK.
The initiative focuses on community projects, and includes developments such as wind turbine for a primary school and solar panels for a converted housing scheme for homeless people.
Energy Minister Stephen Timms said; "The challenges we face to turn the UK into a low carbon economy mean that everyone will have to change they way they think about and use energy. The response to the Clear Skies initiative shows that people across the UK really understand the impact renewable energy can make to their community. These projects show that thinking small is the first step to changing the bigger picture. Each one is a contribution to our aim to generate 10% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2010." |
